After completing his schooling at the Modern School, Barakhamba in New Delhi, Gurpal Singh was wondering where he would get admission in college with his low grades. Fortunately for him Kirori Mal College in Delhi University had a few seats reserved for their Dramatics society, 'The Players', and having auditioned, he managed to scrape through. He then went on to do a Film Direction course at the Film and Television Institute of India and worked for a while assisting in feature films and working on documentaries, shorts, and television programs. His pranks on the candid camera show Chhupa Rustam established him as an actor and since then he has worked on many television shows and done some bit roles in films. He is an avid traveler and foodie and says that he works only when it's very necessary. The rest of the time he spends doing nothing, mostly in the mountains and forests.
